Primăria Comunei Biertan
Biertan joins the communities celebrating on Saturday, September 16, European Heritage Day, a joint initiative of the Council of Europe and the European Union, started in 1985 and also celebrated in Romania since 1992.
In 2023, the Council of Europe chose the theme of Living heritage with the intention of highlighting the role of preserving traditional cultural values that contribute significantly to European culture.
Thus, those who will visit Biertan on Saturday, between 10:00 and 17:00, will have the opportunity to interact with local producers and craftsmen from the area of the Transylvanian Hills during the 5th edition of the monthly fair of local products.
Throughout the fair, the members of the Biertan Pottery Club invite everyone to experience the potter's wheel and try shaping an object of their own.
Starting at 10 o'clock, children can participate in a traditional bracelet weaving workshop and from 12 o'clock in a drawing workshop with various elements of local heritage. Both workshops will take place in the small hall of the Cultural Home in Biertan.
Between 14:00 and 17:00, the Gross family opens the doors of their house, located on Nicolae Bălcescu Street no. 6, for curious visitors of all ages.
This is a unique opportunity to discover the interior of a Saxon household and discover the collections of old objects and their stories.
